TOKYO, Japan - The government approved July 30 the appointments of Hatsuhisa Takashima (R), a veteran journalist, as the Foreign Ministry's press secretary, and Yuji Miyamoto as ambassador to Myanmar. Takashima, 61, was formerly with Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) and is now chief of the U.N. Information Center in Tokyo. Miyamoto, 56, is director general of arms control and scientific affairs at the ministry.
